Steve Jones - Lonely Boy - the radio interviews 2016

Here's a couple of recent radio interviews I have found of Steve Jones, publicising his new autobiography - Lonely Boy, Tales from a Sex Pistol.

As usual I have created some cd artwork for this download.

Jim Walker - artwork available

Original founding PIL member Jim Walker has been quite an elusive chap over the years. After leaving PIL Jim was involved with The Human Condition (alongside fellow PIL member Jah Wobble) and then the Pack .

Jim dropped off my radar for quite a few years but recently I have been managed to track him down. He's been involved with some film work and also has been creating some very interesting artwork, which is available to buy and unbelievably affordable prices.

The piece above was available last year from WH Smith stores as a poster and is entitled
'' Britain Shall Not Burn''

I find his work very interesting and you can buy some from his website for a reasonable price.

you can also follow Jim on twitter

Check him out, say hello and buy some art

Sad Vacation - World Exclusive interview with Co writer & Producer - Brett Dunford.

Well I am very, very pleased to be able to bring you a World Exclusive!!!!

I have been very lucky to be given an interview with Brett Dunford, Sad Vacation's co-writer and Producer.

Interview with Sad Vacation co-writer and producer, Brett Dunford

PH: Now that Sad Vacation is ready for release how do you feel about the finished product

BD: I feel fucking good about it. I was able to view the documentary at various creative stages, so I had a pretty good idea of how it would turn out. But you can never be one hundred percent sure until you've seen the end result. And it goes beyond what I expected.
PH: How and when did your involvement start?

BD: I was brought into it during the final months of production. As you know, I run a leading Sid and Nancy blog and Facebook community, and have been writing a biography on Sid called Vicious White Kid for a couple of years now. We first hooked up when I interviewed him for my blog in April 2014, which was one of his first interviews for Sad Vacation, funnily enough. Exactly two years later and he's interviewing me!
Phyllis Stein set the whole thing up, really. And the more I talked to Danny, the more I realised we were totally on the same page. Other than the anecdotes that I give in the film, I was also consultant, oversaw some of the London reenactment shoots, and helped write part of the narrative.
PH: Reenactments?
BD: I dragged Conor Hussey of The Sex Pistols Experience out in the pissing rain for a couple of days, poor lad. I was present on the first day and it was uncanny watching him walking around London and acting like Sid; he really looked the part.
PH: What are you most proud of about the film as a whole?
BD: I'm happy that we made a solid documentary that presents facts instead of the usual unprovable distractions. I think it's as close as we're ever going to get to solving the events of the Chelsea Hotel.
PH: Tell me something exclusive.
BD: Huey Morgan of the Fun Lovin' Criminals does the narration, although I think that information is up at IMDb already. Um, what else? Sad Vacation contains more unseen photographs of Sid and Nancy in one place than anything else on the market right now. It's a photo collector's wet dream, and some of them are quite "personal".
PH: When can the public see it?
BD: It opens in London through the Doc' n Roll Festival. At Picturehouse Central, Shaftesbury Avenue on November 6th.
PH: Apart from the London premiere, are there plans for a wider theatrical release?
BD: We have one other date already in Philadelphia, and screenings for Boston, Chicago, Los Angeles, New York, and Texas are being ironed out as we speak. Territories outside of the UK and US are also in the works.
PH: Will there be related merchandise?
BD: Yes. The DVD drops on December 9th worldwide, and there will probably be the usual related stuff like t-shirts and posters, but I have no idea of when they might be available to purchase. The safest bet would be around the time of the DVD release. You can stay up-to-date via the official Sad Vacation Facebook page, and at the Chip Baker website.
PH: Are there any extras?
BD: You'll get a behind-the-scenes featurette, some promotional material like the theatrical and teaser trailers. and a couple of music videos. Another thing I should mention is that Sad Vacation has a great soundtrack.
PH: Anything special planned for the premieres that you can divulge?

BD: Maaaybe! But if I divulged them now, they wouldn't be special.

PH: Trying to be as impartial as possible, can you sum up what the fans will get from this film?

BD: The truth. Or as fucking close to it as humanly possible at this juncture. If you have seen Danny's previous film,
Looking for Johnny, then you will know what to expect. He's a guerrilla filmmaker and gets shit done on half the budget of other documentarians. And Sad Vacation is his best film to date, in my opinion.

Deaprtment S - New Album Review - When All is Said and All is Done

BIG Thank You to Pete Jones who sent me a signed promo copy of the new Department S album, When All is Said and All is Done.

The album has a release date sometime in May 2016.

I can only start by saying what a great album it is. Post Punk/Power Pop whatever you want to label it, it is an album full of exciting music. Totally enjoyable - a pleasure to please your ears.

so what do you get for your money?

Answer - 10 tracks of pure joy.

I've had this 2 weeks now & wanted to play it a few times before I shared my opinion. Its so good that I play it everyday!

01 Kings of the World - the opening tracks fades in then BOOM! Power guitar and away we go. A very good starting track that sets the pace of the album. Its a track that makes you want to move. Distinctive Eddie Roxy vocals, this one could easily be a single release. Very Pop.

02 I Said You - this one has a great vibe to it. It kind a reminds me in places of the Mod sound of the 60's. Again its one that gets you moving.

03 When All Is Said and All Is Done - The title track. This has great lyrics and a sound that will appeal to different tastes. This will be the next Department S anthem. Its one that will definitely be a crowd favourite at future gigs.

04 Long March - a slight change in pace for this one. Slower but by no means a slow song. Great vocals and again this feels like it could be a single release.

05 Frozen Room - a strong bass line throughout, which has Pete Jones stamped all over it. Even the vocals seem to me to be influenced by Pete's style. This one reminds me of some of Pete's earlier work around the time that he gave us ''Blood Red Bible Black'' - a very enjoyable track. Some nice piano from Andy Trussler to compliment this.

06 I Believe - this one picks up the pace again and is one of my personal favourites on the album. A very commercial sounding track (and that's not a criticism) - this one will also be a crowd pleaser at future venues. This is a full sounding track where you can really enjoy each member of Department S's input. You can almost hear the fun time that they have playing together.

07 Persia Dance - I'm gonna start to sound boring in a moment but again this is another wonderful track. Slower in pace but it's quite melodic and definitely a hint of funky guitar in this one. Love it.

08 On My Own Again - A very strong track, straight into some powerful guitar playing and Eddie wastes no time in delivering the lyrics. This one is a great song with a slightly different take on breaking up in a relationship.

09 Cause - this is the Rock guitar showpiece. Phil Thompson is amazing on this one. Well written and best enjoyed played VERY LOUD!

10 Age of Control -  and so to the final track. What a fantastic way to finish off an album. At just under 7 and a half minutes in length. This had to deliver. For me this one has the feel of the Indie type tracks from the 1980's. Minimal vocals, mainly spoken word rather than sung, but maximum musicianship from the band. Showing off just how good they are. Some very good saxophone in the middle of  this one from Sean Freeman.

So in all we have an album of 10 tracks that vary in sound so we don't get an album that sounds the same throughout.

It makes you want to get up and move. There's some real thumpers on this.

When its released BUY IT! You will not be disappointed.

Department S have worked very hard touring together over the last couple of years. This album reflects the bond that they have created together.

Well done lads - this is well worth buying - See you at the Undercover Festival

Eddie Roxy - vocals
