This was a wonderfully unique one off night of fun.
The aim was to promote Pete's autobiography - They Call Me Joyless as well as to promote his solo album
Contrivances For the Soul . Pete called in a few friends to help along the way .
To start the evening we had a conversation with Pete, about his life/book, chaired by the wonderfully witty Julie Hamill. Despite his Joyless tag, Pete really is quite a funny chap
We were then treated to some powerfully emotive poetry from the Southdown Laundry Club, making their debut and possibly only ever live performance.
Finally we got the Pete Jones Book Club All Star Rock Combo Band UK LTD.
This was Pete and friends playing some tracks that he has played down the years. The line up was -
Pete Jones, Leigh Heggarty (Ruts DC) Alan Galaxy (Ex-Department S ) Andy Thompson (The Tuesday Club) Spizzenergi and his guitarist Luca Commencini, Eddie Roxy (Department S)
The venue was absolutely packed and it was truly memorable, although Spizz absolutely destroyed This is Not A Love Song.
Here's the set list - unfortunately I didnt realise there would be an encore so my recording is missing the intro to Poptones.
This was recorded and has been shared with the full consent of Pete Jones - I hope you enjoy it
