John Lydon – I Could Be Wrong, I Could Be Right Q&A Tour 2021 a review
John Lydon – I Could Be Wrong, I Could Be Right Q&A Tour 2021
After being delayed by Covid 19 in 2020, the Tour finally
went ahead.
I was lucky enough to be at the first night at Hastings, White Rock, on September 7th 2021 and also Worthing, Pavilion
Theatre, September 10th 2021.
You never know what you’re gonna get with John,
Are you getting Johnny Rotten, the man that gets on peoples nerves and makes
statements for the headlines or are we going to get John Lydon, the honest,
open and approachable man????
I can tell you now, we got John Lydon. John was
relaxed, fun and enjoyable. You could tell he was loving this. The ‘’show’’ is
made up of 2 parts, both approximately 45 minutes in length. The first half
John and Andy (from Away with Media) sit and chat about the book and pick away
at its contents, the second half, is made up with John answering audience
questions, which they wrote and popped into a box during the interval.
John did not avoid any questions.
Hearing him speak about Nora was emotional, his
love and affection for her can clearly be seen by the way he speaks about her. ‘’I
don’t want to give any spoilers, but this is the most open I have ever heard
John speak about his marriage and what Nora means to him.
John talks about Sid and Abba, yep that’s right
Abba, and we even get a sing along with Johnny moment , which is so funny. The crowd
are lapping up John,
Obviously PIL comes up in conversation, they will
tour next year he confirms, there will be a new album, but with what he’s
dealing with with Nora he couldn’t commit to any timescale.
At Hastings we had a couple of hecklers, John put
them in their place immediately. You cant out Rotten Johnny Rotten.
AND YES, the recent Sex Pistols court case was
dealt with indepth.
I did wonder if each night would have a formula
worked out and he would just cover the same stuff each night, apart from the
audience questions. From the 2 nights I went to I can confirm they were very
different and varied.
John had a lot of time for the fans and tried
hard to answer as many questions as he could. He was funny, engaging,
interesting and thoroughly entertaining.
If you get the chance to see him on this Tour
then please do it, it’s a great night out and one you will remember forever.
There will never be another Tour like this one.
Away With Media have done an amazing job delivering a great quality book for a
reasonable price, and every copy signed. And The Tour they have put together is
great fun and value for money. After a night with John you cant help but come
away with a massive smile on your face. This is the real John Lydon, just being
himself…..and do you know what? He’s bloody fun to be around.
