The Spectres - The Singles

First of all I must apologise. I snatched this download of another blog quite some time ago & I honestly cant remember where from. So thanks goes out to the original supplier (whoever you are). This is a download containing the 2 x 7'' singles released by Glen Matlock's The Spectres - again these are no longer commercially available. I had a bit of a soft spot for this outfit. They came along in a period of my life when I fiist started to really be interested in music outside of the punk/reggae scene that I was involved in at the time. To this day I thank Glen Matlock for broadening my horizons.

Tracks:
01 Stories (October 1980)
02 Things (B-side October 1980)
03 Strange Effect (May 1980 - limited to 5000 copies)
04 Getting Away With Murder (B-Side May 1980)

PIL - 1987 Remixes

Tonight I give you some PIL first intended to be released under the title 'Renovations', then as a planned bonus disc to the 'Happy' album. This was to be a reworking of some PIL classics. The project was scrapped and only two of the songs 'The Suit' & 'Religion' are used as B-sides in 1987. Apparently 'Flowers of Romance', 'Banging the Door' & 'Tie Me to the Length of That' were also recorded, but all remain unreleased. I would love that to happen some day. These tracks are no longer commercially available (track 2 never has been)

Tracks:
01 The Suit ('87 Remix)
02 The Suit (Unreleased Extended '87 Remix)
03 Religion ('87 Remix)

Dead Horse

Well I started with Steve, then Paul & last night I gave you something from John. So tonight it's Glen's turn.
Again I really was pleased when this one arrived my way. I had never heard of Dead Horse or even knew of the recordings until Marky Dread sent this my way.
They formed in the mid- 90's but didnt last long. The band has a few names in it that you may recognise. They didnt last long because the Sex Pistols reformed in '96.
Line up:
Glen Matlock - Bass
Gary Twinn - Vocals
Rat Scabies - Drum
Bob 'Derwood' Andrews - Guitar

This was recorded at Rat Scabies' Kew Bridge studio.
Tracks:
01 What Do You Want?
02 Catatonic
03 Fools Holiday
04 Blown Away

Golden Palominos - Animal Speaks

Here's a John Lydon collaboration with The Golden Palominos released in December 1985. Its only one song but Lydon's vocals are excellent. I really do prefer his voice from the 70's & 80's much more than his new Millenium vocal style. This was a 12'' single that was (as far as I know) only released in the U.S. I only managed to get a copy of this last month. That was when I heard it for the first time. I'm very happy to pass this on as I know my UK followers would have probably had little access to this tune down the years. I hope many of you are hearing this for the first time. Enjoy!
Also featuring:
Bass - Bill Laswell
Drums - Anton Fier
Guitar - Jody Harris
Organ - Bernie Worrell
